Position: Event Coordination Specialist

Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services

Hourly Compensation: $20.99

Classification: Temporary

Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the Event Coordination Specialist is responsible for organizing and managing various events and activities, overseeing all aspects from planning to execution and cleanup. This role involves coordinating details for events such as conferences, weddings, community gatherings, and corporate meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, organize, and execute a variety of events and activities.
  • Anticipate project requirements, prioritize tasks, and ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Initiate and manage promotional efforts for events.
  • Assist in the creation and refinement of program materials and promotional content.
  • Maintain records of organizations that may utilize City facilities.
  • Engage effectively with staff, participants, and the public.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Set up and dismantle event setups.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure logistical needs are met.
Required Skills:
  • Understanding of basic management principles for organizing events.
  • Familiarity with public relations practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of media channels for event promotion.
  • Ability to assess event needs and secure necessary resources.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for successful job performance.
  • Enrollment in a college or university program related to this field is preferred.
