Position: Lead Aquatic Program Coordinator

Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services – Aquatics

Hourly Rate: $30.52

Classification: Temporary

Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Position Summary:

The Lead Aquatic Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing aquatic facilities within the City, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and providing guidance and training to staff regarding operational standards.

Supervisory Duties:
  • Supervise Lifeguard I & Senior Lifeguard personnel.
Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage city-wide aquatic facilities and staff.
  • Procure necessary supplies for the upkeep of aquatic venues.
  • Train and assess aquatic staff on adherence to safety regulations and operational procedures.
  • Oversee swimming activities and instructional programs at aquatic facilities.
  • Respond to and document safety incidents.
  • Administer first aid as required.
  • Maintain and prepare payroll documentation for seasonal aquatic staff.
  • Enforce health and safety standards at aquatic facilities.
  • Select, mentor, and evaluate team members.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of pool facilities.
  • Assist in the training of junior aquatic staff.
Required Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of aquatic program operations and pool maintenance, including safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in advanced life-saving techniques.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate extensive summer aquatic programs.
  • Skills to provide first aid to individuals experiencing accidents, injuries, or sudden health issues.
Education and Experience:
  • Mandatory Red Cross Certifications:
  1. Lifeguard Training
  2. CPR for the Professional Rescuer
  3. First Aid
  4. Water Safety Instructor
  5. Train the Trainer
Minimum of one year in a supervisory role and two years of experience in developing and managing aquatic programs.Core Competencies:
