Position: Art Program Leader – Museum Education

Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services – Museum of Art and History

Compensation: $20.99 per hour

Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the Art Program Leader will play a crucial role in supporting various initiatives related to the development and execution of educational programs and services at the City of Lancaster's Museum of Art and History, MOAH: CEDAR, Western Hotel Museum, and the Elyze Clifford Interpretive Center.

Responsibilities:

The duties of the Art Program Leader include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the planning, organization, and delivery of educational programs at the museum, such as Young Artist Workshops, Arts for Youth Tours, Discover Trunks, and Sensory Friendly Programs.
  • Leading regular exhibition tours and conducting specialized workshops.
  • Coordinating and staffing community outreach events across the region.
  • Creating educational materials, including tour scripts, project proposals, and online content.
  • Collaborating with community stakeholders, including educators and local leaders, to implement educational initiatives.
  • Setting up and dismantling special events.
  • Performing related tasks as necessary.
Required Skills:
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Capability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for engaging with staff, participants, and the public.
  • Ability to interpret and execute a variety of instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience:
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for effective job performance.
  • Current enrollment in a college or university majoring in Arts or a related field is desirable.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
