Safe Place for Youth (SPY) is a leading service provider dedicated to assisting youth who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Established in 2011, our organization offers trauma-informed, low-barrier programs aimed at helping young individuals transition from homelessness to stability. Our comprehensive services include street outreach, drop-in programs, health and wellness initiatives, case management, educational and employment support, and housing solutions.

Role Overview:
As a member of the housing team, the Site Associate will provide essential services to SPY members facing homelessness. This role involves supporting residents with diverse health, functional, and social needs, assisting them in reintegrating into the community. The Site Associate will engage with members to help break the cycle of homelessness, maintain site safety, and collaborate with various departments to ensure a successful onboarding experience for residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for new youth residents, fostering rapport and encouraging engagement with ABH services.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the facility for residents, staff, and volunteers.
  • Organize and facilitate engagement activities, supporting ABH programming as necessary.
  • Provide crisis intervention and conflict de-escalation as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the case management team to coordinate care for members, ensuring access to necessary services for health and housing stability.
  • Maintain detailed records and track data in relevant databases.
  • Complete required documentation and reports within designated timelines.
  • Build strong relationships with local service providers and community agencies.
  • Utilize harm-reduction and trauma-informed approaches in service delivery.
  • Participate in community meetings and collaborative agency discussions as directed.
  • Conduct daily checks and maintain a supportive environment in common areas.
  • Assist with meal preparation during breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the organization's mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in case management or counseling is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of direct service experience with high-risk youth is required.
  • Familiarity with social service resources for youth experiencing homelessness is preferred.
  • Knowledge of HMIS/CES systems is preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of SPY.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive is preferred.

Work Environment:
This position may involve prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, as well as physical activities such as lifting up to 15-20 pounds.
