JOB TITLE: Support Worker for Youth Engagement
REPORTS TO: Program Manager for Community Outreach and Engagement
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday (8:00am-4:30pm)
STATUS: Full-Time, 40 hrs/week, Non-Exempt
COMPENSATION: $21.00-$22.00/hr
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Support Worker for Youth Engagement will be an integral part of the Outreach team, operating from the Access Center to deliver essential services to youth facing homelessness. This role involves participating in outreach initiatives and facilitating engagement programs, activities, and events. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of direct service delivery to vulnerable populations and apply trauma-informed practices. Experience with transitional aged youth is highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and execute engagement activities, including off-site outings and community events.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of all necessary documentation, including case records and statistical reports.
- Maintain accurate records and data within the organization's database.
- Engage in collaborative meetings with local agencies and community stakeholders.
- Build strong partnerships with service providers, outreach personnel, and case managers.
- Serve as the primary contact for new youth clients visiting the drop-in center.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for youth, staff, and volunteers.
- Employ a harm-reduction and trauma-informed approach when interacting with youth.
- Assist with on-site programming and activities as required.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict de-escalation support.
- Be available for evening and weekend shifts as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to further the mission of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in providing direct services to at-risk youth, including counseling and advocacy, is required.
- Proficient in computer applications, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage conflict and crisis situations using effective mediation techniques.
- Familiarity with social service resources for youth experiencing homelessness or at risk.
- Experience working in diverse environments with individuals from various backgrounds.
- Valid driver's license and proof of insurance are required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Extended periods of sitting and computer work.
- Adaptability to various environments, including office and outdoor settings.
- Occasional physical lifting of up to 15-20 pounds.
