JOB TITLE: Outreach and Engagement Support Worker

REPORTS TO: Community Outreach and Engagement Program Manager

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday (8:00am-4:30pm)

STATUS: Full-Time, 40 hrs/wk, Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $21.00-$22.00/hr

Role Summary

The Outreach and Engagement Support Worker is an integral member of the Outreach team, stationed at the Access Center. This role is dedicated to assisting individuals facing homelessness and involves participating in outreach initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in providing direct services to vulnerable populations, with an emphasis on trauma-informed practices. Experience with transitional aged youth is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and facilitate engagement activities, including documentation days and off-site events.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of necessary forms, case records, and statistical reports to the Director of Empowerment Programs.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and track data within organizational databases.
  • Engage in collaborative meetings with partner agencies and community stakeholders as required.
  • Build and nurture relationships with local service providers, outreach personnel, and case managers.
  • Serve as the primary contact for new youth clients visiting the drop-in center.
  • Guarantee a safe and secure environment for youth, staff, and volunteers.
  • Employ a harm-reduction and trauma-informed approach in interactions with youth.
  • Assist with on-site programming and drop-in services as necessary.
  • Manage conflict situations and provide crisis intervention support.
  • Be available for evening and weekend shifts as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to further the mission of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in providing direct services to at-risk youth, including counseling and advocacy, is required.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to manage conflict and crisis situations using effective mediation and de-escalation techniques.
  • Familiarity with social service resources for youth at risk of homelessness.
  • Capacity to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a multicultural setting.
  • Valid CA Driver's License and proof of insurance are required.
Work Environment
  • Extended periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Adaptability to various environments, including office and outdoor settings.
  • Physical requirements may include lifting up to 15-20 pounds occasionally.
Additional Information

This position is subject to mandated reporting requirements under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination mandates is also required for employment.
