As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we provide assistance to all individuals, regardless of their religious beliefs, through over 20 programs focused on four main areas: Outreach and Engagement, Housing Services, Mental Health, and Education and Vocational Training. Each year, we support more than 10,000 individuals in our community.

Core Responsibilities

The Nutritional Support Coordinator plays a vital role in collaborating with a diverse team of social service professionals and support staff to ensure the efficient operation of our food pantry services. This position requires a proactive approach in a fast-paced environment, including the physical ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 60 pounds.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Overseeing the daily operations of the food pantry and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Serving as the primary contact for food donation sources.
  • Managing food inventory and maintaining organized pantry storage.
  • Assisting clients who utilize pantry services.
  • Supporting volunteers and case managers in their roles.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and data management.
  • Handling the physical movement of food items, including heavy bags and crates.
Essential Duties:
  • Preparing the pantry for operation, including setup and cleanup.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized pantry environment.
  • Determining daily food distribution amounts.
  • Guiding volunteers and assigning specific tasks.
  • Documenting and distributing emergency food supplies.
  • Updating informational materials regarding pantry operations.
  • Coordinating supply orders with the program manager.
  • Conducting regular cleaning and maintenance of pantry facilities.
  • Facilitating partnerships with local food sources for donations.
  • Organizing pantry storage and ensuring timely food rotation.
  • Scheduling appointments for pantry clients.
  • Addressing and resolving client concerns effectively.
  • Assisting with seasonal projects and holiday preparations.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to assess food needs accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, volunteers, and staff.
  • Capability to de-escalate client issues and manage grievances.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry heavy items regularly.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish and/or Russian are preferred.
Experience:
  • Previous experience in administrative roles or the food sector is advantageous.
  • Customer service experience is beneficial.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Additional Information

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to navigate commonly used internet browsers.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
  • Valid California Class C Driver License.
  • Current automobile liability insurance.
Travel Requirements:
  • Reliable transportation is necessary for job-related functions.
  • Regular trips for food pickups and deliveries may be required.
