Role Summary

The Psychiatrist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team within the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program, focusing on adult clients. This role involves delivering direct client care, including assessments, medication management, and psychiatric treatment for individuals facing substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Psychiatrist will uphold our core values by recognizing individual rights, promoting shared decision-making, and employing a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive substance use and psychiatric evaluations, including history, illness progression, treatment responses, mental status assessments, and DSM-V diagnoses.
  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss client assessments and care plans.
  • Prescribe psychotropic medications, regularly assessing therapeutic responses and side effects while educating clients about their medications.
  • Administer intramuscular injections as needed, following documented prescriptions.
  • Evaluate clients' eligibility for medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
  • Provide tailored recommendations for care levels and treatment settings to meet individual client needs.
  • Review toxicology and lab results, integrating findings into electronic health records.
  • Coordinate with other staff to address medical concerns.
  • Document client progress accurately to maintain a comprehensive record of client activities.
  • Collaborate with external care providers and referral sources as necessary.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing for prescriber services.
  • Offer support, education, and counseling to family members of clients, engaging them in the treatment process.
  • Conduct on-site crisis assessments and management during regular working hours, both in-person and via phone.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures while maintaining professional standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Licensed Psychiatrist in New York State.
  • Exhibit patience, flexibility, compassion, and a strong belief in recovery principles.
  • Maintain an active, unrestricted license to practice in New York State.
  • Possess active federal and state DEA registrations.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies governing medical services.
  • Understand and adhere to 42CFR, HIPAA Privacy Standards, and related agency policies.
  • Demonstrate reliability and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Meet pre-employment clearance requirements as mandated by regulatory agencies.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Classification: Exempt, Part-Time
