Position Summary

The Psychiatrist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team within the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program, focusing on adult clients. Responsibilities include delivering direct client care, conducting assessments, managing medications, and providing psychiatric treatment for individuals facing substance use and co-occurring disorders. The role emphasizes recovery-oriented practices that respect individual rights and promote collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of substance use and psychiatric conditions, including history, treatment responses, and DSM-V diagnoses.
  • Engage in team meetings to discuss client care and assessment findings.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring clients are educated about their treatment.
  • Administer medications as necessary, including intramuscular injections.
  • Evaluate client eligibility for medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
  • Provide tailored recommendations for treatment settings based on individual client needs.
  • Review and incorporate toxicology and lab results into client records.
  • Coordinate care with other staff to address medical concerns.
  • Document client progress meticulously to maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with external care providers and referral sources as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing for prescriber services.
  • Support and educate family members involved in the treatment process.
  • Conduct crisis assessments and management during regular hours.
  • Adhere to established policies and maintain professional standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Licensed Psychiatrist in New York State.
  • Exhibit patience, flexibility, and a strong belief in recovery principles.
  • Maintain an active, unrestricted license and DEA registrations.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and agency policies regarding medical services.
  • Understanding of HIPAA Privacy Standards and related policies.
  • Reliable, able to work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Exempt, Part-Time
