Role Overview:

The Psychiatrist will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team within the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program, focusing on adult clients. The role involves delivering direct client care, which includes comprehensive assessments, medication management, and psychiatric treatment for individuals facing substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Psychiatrist will uphold our core values by providing services that emphasize individual rights, collaborative decision-making, and evidence-based practices while maintaining a recovery-oriented and person-centered approach.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments related to substance use and psychiatric conditions, including history-taking, treatment responses, and DSM-V diagnoses.
  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss client assessments and care plans.
  • Prescribe psychotropic medications and monitor therapeutic responses, educating clients about their medications.
  • Administer intramuscular injections as required, in accordance with established protocols.
  • Evaluate client eligibility for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Document client progress accurately to maintain a comprehensive record of client interactions.
  • Collaborate with external care providers and referral sources as necessary.
  • Engage family members in the treatment process, providing support and education to enhance recovery.
  • Conduct crisis assessments and management during regular work hours, both in-person and via phone.
  • Adhere to established policies and maintain professional standards at all times.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be a licensed Psychiatrist in New York State.
  • Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and compassion, with a strong belief in recovery principles.
  • Must maintain an active, unrestricted federal and state DEA registration.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies is required.
  • Understanding of HIPAA Privacy Standards and related policies is essential.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality and reliability.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Classification: Exempt, Part-Time
