The Community Support Coordinator at Westchester Jewish Community Services is dedicated to addressing the psychosocial needs of participants in a community initiative aimed at supporting LGBTQ+ youth aged up to 21. This role involves assisting the Director in the coordination and execution of essential services. This is a full-time role with a competitive salary.

Key Responsibilities:

As an integral member of our organization, your duties will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Providing supportive counseling, outreach, case management, and advocacy services to LGBTQIA+ youth, adolescents, young adults, and their families;
  • Facilitating support groups and drop-in sessions tailored for LGBTQIA+ youth and their caregivers;
  • Maintaining accurate client records and data management;
  • Organizing and executing educational and recreational programs for youth and young adults;
  • Preparing and delivering training sessions, workshops, and outreach initiatives for students, families, professionals, and community stakeholders;
  • Coordinating outreach efforts to promote programs and activities, including participation in community events and collaboration with other organizations;
  • Providing crisis intervention support to LGBTQIA+ youth and young adult clients;
  • Managing volunteer engagement and recognition initiatives;
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • A Master's degree in social work or mental health counseling is preferred;
  • Experience working with youth, adolescents, and young adults;
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ youth and their families;
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, and community members;
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written;
  • Reliable transportation for travel to various sites and community events;
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
