GEI Consultants is in search of a seasoned Geotechnical Engineering Specialist to spearhead our Geotechnical Division within the Sacramento office. This role is pivotal in enhancing our technical capabilities and fostering business growth across our West Region offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a dedicated team of geotechnical professionals, including engineers and geologists, within our Sacramento location.
  • Deliver expert guidance and serve as the Engineer of Record, ensuring high-quality project execution.
  • Drive the growth of the geotechnical practice while achieving targeted revenue and profit margins.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals, maintain strong client relationships, and engage in professional organizations and industry events.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and mentorship of team members across the West Region.
  • Exemplify company culture and values, serving as a role model within the organization.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives at the office, regional, and national levels.
  • Collaborate with senior geotechnical experts across the West and other regions to fulfill client requirements.
  • Willingness to travel overnight as needed, approximately 20 to 30% of the time.

Required Qualifications

  • Over 20 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with at least 10 years in a leadership capacity.
  • A Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Possession of a California Professional Engineering license (PE) is mandatory; a Geotechnical license (GE) is preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of geotechnical and earthquake engineering principles.
  • A diverse technical background, including expertise in dam and levee engineering, along with risk-informed decision-making.
  • A proven track record as a Seller-Doer, showcasing strong client relationships and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Recognized for delivering innovative, client-focused solutions with technical excellence.
  • A collaborative team leader with outstanding interpersonal skills.
