Position Summary
The Fuel System Engineering Specialist will play a pivotal role in our Fueling Design team, focusing on the creation and drafting of construction plans for fuel storage tank projects nationwide. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in AutoCAD and mechanical systems, with a passion for designing fueling solutions. A degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is essential, and while a PE or EIT certification is preferred, it is not mandatory for candidates with relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize AutoCAD to develop detailed construction plans and assist in the design of fueling systems.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to fulfill design specifications and project objectives.
  • Prepare project timelines and cost estimates that align with project goals.
  • Create plans that are compliant with permitting and construction standards; develop specifications in CSI format for bidding and execution.
  • Engage with clients to determine tank system design requirements and liaise with local agencies to facilitate project advancement.
  • Coordinate design efforts and submissions with project subconsultants, ensuring adherence to timelines and processes.
  • Conduct SPCC inspections or oversee inspection activities; prepare and certify SPCC Plans or review plans prepared by others.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and preparation of fueling systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with a strong understanding of CAD standards.
  • Experience in designing fueling systems in California, with knowledge of state-specific regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with clients and city officials during the design process.
  • Experience in preparing Submittal Packages for city plan reviews.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to work collaboratively to meet project deadlines and budgets.

Preferred Education and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • PE or EIT certification is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of CUPA regulations for UST installations, fire code regulations for AST installations, and CARB regulations.
  • Experience with SPCC Plans is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of fuel design systems, including pumps, valves, and site layouts, is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to job sites and client meetings as necessary.
  • Willingness to walk job site locations when required.
  • Occasional lifting of plans weighing between 1-20 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 annually.
