Key Responsibilities:
The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Conducting thorough background research utilizing geological maps, geotechnical reports, aerial imagery, and GIS data.
- Performing and overseeing geotechnical field investigations, including mapping, drilling, and test pits.
- Preparing detailed geotechnical maps, cross-sections, boring logs, and analyses.
- Compiling geotechnical design reports for a diverse array of projects.
- Conducting construction inspections and geological observations, particularly for hillside grading projects.
- Managing projects autonomously while collaborating with support staff on proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological Sciences
- Licensed California Professional Geologist, actively pursuing Certified Engineering Geologist licensure
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical consulting
- Proficient in geotechnical tasks, including field exploration, drilling, and mapping
- Ability to prepare geotechnical reports independently and collaboratively
- Experience in geotechnical observations during grading and construction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on client relations
- Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a team
- Attention to detail and effective time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed California Certified Engineering Geologist
- Master’s degree in Geological Sciences
- Understanding of Geotechnical Engineering principles
- Project Management experience with public agencies and private clients
- Proficiency in relevant software such as GIS, gINT, AutoCAD, etc.
