Key Responsibilities:
The Engineering Geologist will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Conducting thorough background research utilizing geological maps, prior geotechnical reports, aerial imagery, and GIS.
  • Executing and overseeing geotechnical field investigations, including mapping, drilling, and test pits.
  • Creating geotechnical maps, cross-sections, boring logs, and conducting relevant analyses.
  • Drafting geotechnical design reports for diverse projects.
  • Performing construction inspections and geological observations, particularly for hillside grading initiatives.
  • Managing projects independently while collaborating with supporting staff on proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Enhancing technical expertise to integrate with our diverse team of Engineers and Geologists, gaining experience in related fields such as geotechnical, civil, structural, and pavement engineering.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geological Sciences
  • Licensed as a California Professional Geologist (PG) and Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG)
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical consulting
  • Proficient in geotechnical tasks, including field exploration, drilling, and mapping.
  • Experience in preparing geotechnical reports independently and as part of a team.
  • Conducting geotechnical observations during grading and construction phases.
  • Experience in proposal preparation, budget management, and client interaction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on client relations.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Attention to detail and effective time management skills.
  • Possession of a vehicle for fieldwork on geotechnical projects.

Preferred Qualifications for More Experienced Candidates:
  • Master's degree in Geological Sciences
  • Understanding of Geotechnical Engineering principles
  • Project Management experience with public agencies and private clients
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as GIS, gINT, AutoCAD, etc.
