We are in search of a skilled geotechnical project manager to become a vital member of our dynamic Geotechnical Engineering Group within the West Region. The selected individual will play a crucial role in bolstering our successful and expanding practices in Dams, Levees, and Hydropower engineering. Additional project engagements may encompass various sectors, including institutional, residential, and commercial developments, transit-oriented projects, waterfront initiatives, contractor support, and transportation systems.

Work Locations

This opportunity is available across multiple offices in the West Region.

Work Flexibility

GEI is embracing a hybrid work model, offering employees the flexibility to choose from a variety of options that combine remote work and in-office presence. Employees may opt to work in the office a minimum of two days per week or choose to be present five days a week, fostering a forward-thinking and adaptable work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the project manager and technical authority for geotechnical engineering assignments, including assessment, design, and remediation of dams, levees, and hydropower systems; geotechnical instrumentation; and investigations for significant water infrastructure projects, such as pipelines, canals, penstocks, pump stations, tunnels, bridges, and waterfront facilities.
  • Develop technical scopes of work for proposals and projects, prepare project budgets, and create requests for proposals for contractors, along with comprehensive technical reports.
  • Exhibit effective leadership in proposal teams and presentations.
  • Lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary and geographically diverse project teams.
  • Maintain a strong presence in the marketplace through regular client engagement, participation in professional organizations, and representation at industry events.
  • Oversee project management and staff coordination.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of new team members.
  • This role includes fieldwork; travel and occasional overnight trips are necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering, including project management experience, proposal preparation, and budgeting; comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations; and business development capabilities.
  • Willingness and capability to travel for short-term assignments as required.
  • Ability to perform field tasks and provide oversight.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license is mandatory.
  • A Professional Engineering license is required.
