Job Responsibilities:

The Engineering Geologist will oversee and assist with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Conducting background research utilizing geological maps, prior geotechnical reports, aerial imagery, GIS, etc.
  • Executing and managing geotechnical field investigations: mapping, drilling, test pits, etc.
  • Developing geotechnical maps, cross-sections, boring logs, and pertinent analyses.
  • Compiling geotechnical design reports for a diverse array of projects.
  • Performing construction inspections and observations, including geological assessments and mapping for hillside grading initiatives.
  • Independently managing projects alongside supporting staff, including proposals, budget estimates, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Actively enhancing technical knowledge to integrate with our multidisciplinary team of Engineers and Geologists; this includes gaining insights into related engineering fields – geotechnical, civil, structural, and pavement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Sciences
  • Licensed California Professional Geologist (PG) and Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant, full-time experience in geotechnical consulting
  • Comprehensive experience with geotechnical tasks, including:
Geotechnical investigations, including various types of field exploration, drilling, and mapping.
Creation of geotechnical maps, cross-sections, boring logs, and other relevant analyses.
Development of geotechnical reports independently and collaboratively within a geotechnical engineering team.
Observations during grading and construction, including hillside grading.
  • Experience in preparing proposals, managing budgets, and engaging with clients.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a focus on maintaining excellent client relationships.
  • Self-driven and comfortable working both independently and within a team environment.
  • Attention to detail, effective time management, collaboration, and support of team members, including mentoring.
  • Access to a vehicle for fieldwork on geotechnical projects.
Preferred Qualifications for More Experienced Candidates:
  • Master’s Degree in Geological Sciences
  • Understanding of Geotechnical Engineering principles
  • Project Management experience with public agencies and private clients
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as GIS, gINT, AutoCAD, etc.
