Position Summary
The ideal candidate for the Fuel System Engineering Specialist role will possess a strong background in AutoCAD and mechanical systems, with a focus on fuel system design. A degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is essential, and while a Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred, it is not mandatory if the candidate has relevant experience in civil engineering or fuel system design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize AutoCAD to create detailed construction plans and contribute to the design of fuel systems.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to fulfill design specifications and project requirements.
  • Develop project timelines and cost estimates that align with client expectations.
  • Prepare plans that comply with permitting and construction standards; draft specifications in CSI format for bidding purposes.
  • Engage with clients to determine tank system design criteria; liaise with local agencies to facilitate project advancement.
  • Coordinate design efforts and submissions with project subconsultants, ensuring adherence to timelines and processes.
  • Conduct SPCC inspections and oversee the preparation and certification of SPCC Plans.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and preparation of fueling systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, with a strong understanding of CAD standards.
  • Experience in designing fueling systems, particularly in California, with knowledge of local regulations.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and city officials.
  • Experience in preparing Submittal Packages for city plan reviews.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to work collaboratively to meet project deadlines and budgets.

Preferred Education and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • PE or EIT certification is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of CUPA regulations for UST installations and fire code regulations for AST installations.
  • Experience with SPCC Plans is a plus.
  • Understanding of fuel design systems, including pumps, valves, and site layouts.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to job sites and client meetings.
  • Capable of walking job site locations as needed.
  • Occasional lifting of plans weighing between 1-20 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 per year.
