M&C is actively seeking a Senior Vice President of Multifamily Asset Management to spearhead the asset management for a diverse portfolio, including both stabilized properties and new development projects.

The firm is a fully integrated real estate company specializing in the investment and development of multifamily properties across the Southeastern United States.

With a robust history of success in the region, the company is strategically positioned for continued growth, having raised discretionary funds and planning to initiate their next major fund series shortly.


Role Summary:


The VP of Asset Management will play a vital role in enhancing the financial performance and maximizing returns on the company’s real estate investments.

This position requires the development and execution of strategic business plans for current investments, utilizing a comprehensive understanding of the overarching vision and strategy for each asset.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor the asset management team, providing strategic direction and support.
  • Ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures through effective coordination with property management teams.
  • Represent the company with professionalism in all external interactions.

Operational Excellence:
  • Enhance operational effectiveness by implementing best practices and standardized procedures.
  • Streamline reporting processes, dashboards, forecasting, and modeling through automation and advanced technology.
  • Utilize asset management technologies and data analytics to optimize performance and inform decision-making.

Deliver detailed analyses of portfolio performance, including metrics, operating expenses, investment returns, and trends, while proposing strategies for operational enhancements.


Financial Strategy:
  • Maximize investment returns by crafting and executing strategic investment plans for the real estate portfolio.
  • Conduct thorough market and competitive analyses to recommend effective pricing and marketing strategies.
  • Prepare comprehensive annual business plans, encompassing budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Adjust business strategies based on local market conditions, competition, and economic factors.
  • Enhance property values by assessing capital improvement projects and investment opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment of renovation costs with budget projections, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Manage the debt structure of assets, identifying refinancing opportunities as needed.
  • Conduct regular portfolio-level and asset-level valuation reviews, implementing corrective actions and updating business plans accordingly.
  • Lead asset disposition initiatives, positioning properties for sale and directing marketing efforts.

Risk Management:
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage risks and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor insurance coverage, lease agreements, and legal obligations to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain high-quality standards and compliance through regular property inspections and audits.
  • Support pre-acquisition and pre-development processes by reviewing financial and operational assumptions and assisting in debt financing negotiations.
  • Actively participate in the investment committee process.

Investor Relations:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for investment partners, overseeing all investor reporting activities.
  • Maintain open and regular communication with investors and stakeholders, providing updates on portfolio performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Align with investor expectations by establishing clear performance metrics and accountability frameworks.
  • Foster strong relationships with investors through educational resources and proactive engagement.
  • Coordinate with executive management to develop and communicate annual distribution plans.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in real estate, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in real estate with a leading private equity or asset management firm.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in leading presentations with confidence, anticipating questions and objections.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Able to critically assess properties, including land, buildings, and landscaping.
  • Advanced computer skills, including the ability to create customized research reports and integrate data into existing databases; proficient in Microsoft Office products.
