Security Officer at Colonial Downs

Position Overview: Oversees security operations to guarantee the safety and welfare of patrons and staff at Colonial Downs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivers exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders, reflecting the #AddLife ethos in all engagements.
  • Cultivates a positive and encouraging atmosphere for team members.
  • Participates in daily briefings and meetings, demonstrating commitment and punctuality.
  • Ensures seamless department operations by adhering to policies, responsible gaming protocols, and internal control measures.
  • Drafts clear and precise reports based on factual data.
  • Responds promptly to unusual incidents, taking necessary actions and notifying relevant parties.
  • Manages currency transports in accordance with gaming regulations.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Communicates effectively with fellow security personnel using established radio codes.
  • Addresses customer complaints swiftly, fairly, and consistently.
  • Safeguards property assets efficiently.
  • Responds to First Aid situations and administers CPR as needed.
  • Ensures adherence to the Anti-Money Laundering Program, including Suspicious Activity Reporting and Customer Identification protocols.
  • Upholds integrity in gaming, banking, count room, and cash handling practices.
  • Handles confidential information and materials with discretion.
  • Facilitates communication within the department to ensure information is disseminated among team members.
  • Keeps security management informed of relevant information for effective business operations.
  • Addresses issues within scope and escalates others to the supervisor as necessary.
  • Keeps the position supervisor updated on significant activities.
  • Performs additional assigned duties as required.

Regulatory and Compliance Duties:

  • Engage in company-sponsored training sessions.
  • Obtain and maintain necessary licenses.
  • Operate in accordance with local laws and regulations.
  • Ensure minors do not participate in restricted activities.
  • Understand and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Be knowledgeable about the property's problem gaming initiatives.
  • Promptly report any observed misconduct.

Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory, along with formal security or law enforcement training or certification. Relevant on-the-job experience may be considered in lieu of formal training. Other combinations of education and experience will be assessed. Effective communication skills are essential. Ability to work in an environment with secondhand smoke, moderate to loud noise, and varying light conditions.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Must possess a Virginia Racing Commission License.
