POSITION SUMMARY: The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all guests and staff within the gaming and hospitality environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uphold and promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Colonial Downs Group LLC.
- Ensure the well-being of all patrons and employees within the casino and hotel premises.
- Document investigations and incidents promptly and accurately.
- Provide exceptional customer service to guests as required.
- Assist in the secure transfer of cash and gaming chips from the casino floor.
- Conduct regular patrols of the casino and hotel to maintain a safe atmosphere.
- Enforce casino policies and regulations as mandated by the gaming authority.
- Remain stationed at assigned posts for extended periods as directed by management.
- Report daily activities and responsibilities to the supervising manager.
- Manage and de-escalate potential conflicts, providing assistance during emergencies.
- Control access to restricted areas and the video lottery facility.
- Respond immediately to backup calls as needed.
- Operate a company vehicle, maintaining a clean driving record.
- Compile reports on significant incidents and activities.
- Maintain constant communication with the base via radio during shifts.
- Participate in ongoing training and meetings as required.
- Verify identification for gaming floor access, welcoming guests and vendors in a professional manner.
- Ensure crowd control, fostering a friendly environment and addressing inappropriate behavior.
- Conduct cash escorts as necessary.
- Investigate incidents and prepare written reports, while monitoring and reporting any violations of procedures or illegal activities.
- May assume the responsibilities of the Security Lead when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE:
In addition to the duties outlined, all team members are expected to adhere to compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Attend mandatory training sessions provided by the company.
- Obtain and maintain necessary licenses.
- Execute responsibilities in accordance with local laws and regulations.
- Ensure minors are prohibited from gambling or loitering in gaming areas.
- Be knowledgeable about the regulations and policies relevant to the department.
- Understand the property's initiatives to address problem gaming.
- Report any misconduct or illegal activities witnessed.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience in law enforcement, military, security, or customer service equivalent to one year, or currently pursuing a degree in a related field.
- Successful completion of internal training programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English.
- Capability to prioritize and follow through on work assignments.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations.
- A valid driver's license may be required, along with a good driving history.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
CERTIFICATIONS: Virginia Racing Commission License and a valid Driver's License with a minimum of three years of driving experience.
