Position Overview:

As a Senior Merchandise Planner, you will play a crucial role in driving the company's inventory management goals and financial performance by ensuring optimal product availability. This position is hybrid, requiring four days a week in the Los Angeles office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, sustain, and adjust monthly sales forecasts for designated categories, aligning with financial directives and budgetary constraints.
  • Oversee Open-to-Buy (OTB) management to maintain ideal inventory levels that align with demand and company financial plans while mitigating inventory risks through scenario planning.
  • Facilitate comprehensive quarterly Buy Reviews for assigned categories and present findings to the Executive team for strategic alignment.
  • Manage the purchase order (PO) writing process at the style/color/size level, collaborating with Production to ensure timely issuance and receipt of POs.
  • Deliver precise quarterly projections to the Production team, ensuring sufficient factory capacity.
  • Compile and evaluate weekly and quarterly reports, communicating significant insights and actionable recommendations to the broader team, including opportunities and current risks.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Merchandising Teams to refine quarterly assortments and develop effective purchasing strategies based on historical data and analysis.
  • Devise and present revenue and unit projections for potential new product launches using both top-down and bottom-up methodologies.
  • Support promotional initiatives by recommending featured products and compiling SKU lists to enhance performance and sell-through rates.
  • Work cross-functionally with Merchandising and Site Merchandising teams to ensure an optimal customer experience.
  • Identify and monitor aged or slow-moving inventory, communicating at-risk products to the broader team and developing markdown or exit strategies as necessary.
  • Partner with Operations and Fulfillment teams as needed to optimize warehouse space utilization.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be based in Los Angeles or willing to relocate, as this role requires four days a week in the office.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in apparel planning, merchandising, or buying is essential.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities are necessary.
  • Proficient knowledge of retail mathematics is required.
  • High proficiency in Excel; experience with Netsuite, Tableau, and/or Toolio is advantageous.
  • An analytical and results-oriented mindset with a proven track record of identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities.
  • Ability to articulate a strong perspective on product assortment and business opportunities/risks.
  • Attention to detail and self-motivation with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills; a preference for teamwork is essential.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities are required.
  • Capacity to maintain strong cross-functional partnerships and foster a collaborative team environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

The base salary range for this full-time position is $98,000 - $128,000. Individual compensation will be determined by various factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that this salary range does not include any potential bonuses, equity, or benefits.
