The Opportunity

We are on the lookout for a Lead Content Strategist to collaborate with our Merchandising & Communications Experience Design (XD) team. This role focuses on crafting relevant and scalable experiences that effectively connect our members with the content they cherish.

About the Merchandising & Communications XD Team

This team is dedicated to the development and enhancement of Netflix's Merchandising design framework. Their mission is to ensure every member feels understood and valued by anticipating their preferences and fostering meaningful connections with beloved content.

Role of Content Design

Content Designers work alongside Product Designers, Product Managers, and other specialists to shape Netflix's product experiences. They approach design through the lens of language, creating strategic, testable content that reduces friction and enables Netflix to communicate effectively with a global audience.

Your Profile

You are a user advocate, focused on designing solutions that offer genuine value rather than merely promoting products. You possess a strong systems thinking ability and are familiar with taxonomy development. Your background includes extensive experience in categorizing or describing content, preferably within the entertainment sector.

You excel in crafting engaging copy, justifying your word choices, and preparing strategic internal documents. You are adept at analyzing user journeys and integrating data and research into your designs. While you confidently present your viewpoints, you are also collaborative and open to feedback.

You are recognized for your ability to build robust relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and expertise. You are self-motivated and maintain high standards for execution and communication.

Your Responsibilities

- Develop frameworks for new text assets that encapsulate various aspects of Netflix's shows, films, and games, providing clear guidance to fulfillment teams.
- Create and implement Content Design strategies that enhance the Netflix catalog and improve user experiences.
- Work closely with the Netflix Design Systems team to design, document, and refine a Merchandising Design System.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate merchandising strategies and enhance our design system.
- Maintain central resources that serve as authoritative references for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

- Over 5 years of experience in user-centered design within entertainment or publishing platforms.
- Proven ability to cultivate successful relationships with stakeholders and team members.
- Strong creative and analytical writing capabilities.
- Experience in developing language frameworks and strategies.
- Familiarity with global products and collaboration with Globalization teams.
- A/B testing experience is preferred.
- Experience in creating or contributing to design systems and adapting them to evolving business needs.
- Understanding of user journeys and merchandising lifecycles.

Work Environment

This full-time position reports to the Senior Manager of Content Design within the Member XD team. Our compensation structure is based solely on an annual salary, with options for stock compensation.
