Position Overview:
As a Senior Merchandise Planner, you will play a crucial role in achieving the company's inventory management goals and financial performance by ensuring the availability of the right products at the right time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain monthly sales forecasts for designated categories, ensuring alignment with financial guidelines and budgets.
- Manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) to optimize inventory levels that meet demand while minimizing potential risks through scenario planning.
- Lead the quarterly Buy Review process for assigned categories and present findings to the Executive team for alignment.
- Oversee the purchase order (PO) writing process at the style/color/size level, collaborating with Production for timely issuance and receipt of POs.
- Provide accurate quarterly projections to the Production team to ensure sufficient factory capacity.
- Compile and analyze weekly and quarterly reports, communicating actionable insights and identifying opportunities and risks to the broader team.
- Collaborate with Planning and Merchandising Teams to refine quarterly assortments and develop effective buying strategies based on historical data and analysis.
- Devise and present revenue and unit projections for potential new product launches from both top-down and bottom-up perspectives.
- Support promotional strategies by recommending featured products and compiling SKU lists to enhance performance and sell-through of targeted items.
- Work cross-functionally with Merchandising and Site Merchandising teams to ensure an optimal customer experience.
- Identify and monitor aged or slow-moving inventory, communicating at-risk products to the broader team and developing markdown or exit strategies as needed.
- Partner with Operations and Fulfillment teams to support efficient warehouse space utilization.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be based in Los Angeles or have the ability to relocate, as this is a hybrid role requiring four days a week in the office.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in apparel planning, merchandising, or buying is essential.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in retail mathematics is required.
- High proficiency in Excel; experience with Netsuite, Tableau, and/or Toolio is a plus.
- An analytical and results-oriented mindset with a proven track record of identifying and leveraging business opportunities.
- Ability to articulate a strong perspective on product assortment and business opportunities/risks.
- Attention to detail and self-motivation with the capacity to multitask effectively.
- Exceptional collaboration skills; enjoyment of teamwork is essential.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities are required.
- Ability to maintain strong cross-functional partnerships and foster a collaborative team environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $98,000 - $128,000. Individual pay is determined by various factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This range does not include any bonus, equity, or benefits that may be applicable.
