JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


The Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP), part of the Office of Entrepreneurship and Commercialization, is expanding its team and is in search of a Technical Advisor.

PennTAP is dedicated to assisting Pennsylvania enterprises in enhancing their competitiveness by utilizing university resources to foster innovation and sustainability.

Our technical advisors are essential in linking industry with the expertise and tools necessary to succeed in today’s marketplace.

As a Technical Advisor, you will be instrumental in delivering practical support to small and medium-sized enterprises across Pennsylvania.


Key Responsibilities:
Conduct on-site evaluations for industrial energy efficiency and pollution prevention.

Examine the facility's equipment processes, capture images, conduct interviews with relevant personnel, gather information from equipment nameplates, review equipment specification documents, and utilize industry-appropriate tools to take single-point measurements, as necessary.

Identify opportunities and perform analysis of data collected on-site for energy conservation and pollution reduction initiatives.
Engage with clients to comprehend their technical requirements and provide customized recommendations or solutions.
Offer expert consultations on energy management systems, including the 50001 Ready Program.
Assist businesses in applying for pertinent grants and rebates.
Facilitate connections between Pennsylvania businesses and Penn State resources to bolster innovation, job creation, and sustainability efforts.
Develop and sustain robust relationships with private sector companies and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:


A minimum of a Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, environmental science, management) along with 6+ years of pertinent experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Six Sigma Green Belt, or LEED Green Associate are highly regarded.
A strong background in managing client relationships and delivering exceptional customer service.
Excellent communication and project management capabilities.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
Commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in manufacturing, energy efficiency, or environmental consulting.
Familiarity with grant writing and administration.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and environmental permitting processes.
Experience in writing technical reports and familiarity with key performance indicators.

Work Location:
This position is available at multiple Penn State campuses in the Southeast region of Pennsylvania.
