Position Overview:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering respiratory therapy interventions aimed at evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients with respiratory and pulmonary conditions.
This professional conducts thorough assessments of patient health and collaborates with medical staff to establish suitable treatment strategies, while also tracking patient recovery post-intervention to assess treatment efficacy.
Additionally, the Respiratory Therapist meticulously documents all patient care activities, ensuring adherence to the established quality of care standards and departmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Engages effectively with colleagues, visitors, and other personnel in alignment with the core values of the institution.
- Administers respiratory therapy as prescribed by physicians, which includes oxygen therapy, respiratory medications, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), arterial blood gases (ABGs), and mechanical ventilation.
- Conducts both invasive and non-invasive evaluations to identify respiratory care requirements, providing recommendations based on departmental protocols to enhance patient outcomes and facilitate timely discharges.
- Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation, performing clinical assessments, routine checks, troubleshooting, weaning, airway management, and diagnostic evaluations to ensure patient safety and appropriate care.
- Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath samples for diagnostic purposes, assessing lung capacity to identify any impairments.
- Provides diagnostic insights and treatment recommendations based on patient analysis.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless continuity of care and service coordination.
- Ensures the efficient operation of the PFT and ABG laboratory, along with other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Required Qualifications:
Professional expertise in the field of Respiratory Care, in accordance with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials.
Educational Background: Graduate of an AMA accredited Respiratory Care program. Must hold a license from the State Board of Medicine or State Board of Osteopathic Medicine. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) is mandatory. An Associate's degree or equivalent (2-year degree) is required.
Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care is required (if not certified or registered by the NBRC, registration must be obtained within two years of employment).
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) certifications are preferred. Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
Due to the nature of this position, which involves regular interaction with children, candidates must comply with the Child Protective Services Act, including background checks as mandated by state regulations.
Covid Vaccination is a prerequisite for employment at the institution for roles involving clinical responsibilities.
