About the Role

At KIPP DC, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Community Outreach Manager to join our Community Engagement team. This role will play a critical part in building and maintaining relationships with local community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to support the mission of KIPP DC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Engagement Outreach: Represent KIPP DC at community meetings, events, and functions, including Advisory Neighborhood Commission meetings.
  • Community Partnerships: Identify and cultivate formalized community partnerships that benefit KIPP DC students, families, and staff.
  • Collaboration with other KIPP DC Teams: Coordinate with the communications team on all aspects of community outreach communications, partner with the student recruitment team on events and initiatives to drive interest in and enrollment at KIPP DC schools, and support fundraising efforts by cultivating relationships with potential donors and sponsors within the community.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for policies and decisions that support the interests of KIPP DC, its students, and the broader charter school sector.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in public education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate Degree: Graduate degree in public policy.
  • Government Affairs Experience: Experience in supporting an organization's government affairs or public policy.
  • Community Organization Experience: Experience working with local advocacy organizations.
  • Press Strategies: Strong understanding of press strategies.
  • Community Organization Experience in DC: Experience working with community organizations in the Washington, DC area (Wards 5, 7, 8).
Physical Requirements
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to work outside normal business hours or weekends for KIPP DC events or community meetings.
  • Travel: Ability to travel across KIPP DC schools and throughout Washington, DC.
