Job Overview

The Human Resources Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing intricate employee data and ensuring compliance with various regulations. This position is essential for overseeing Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations, Workers' Compensation claims, and maintaining accurate OSHA logs. Additionally, the specialist administers tuition remission programs, manages the 403(b) retirement plan, and leads the implementation of the learning management system (LMS), contributing significantly to the organization’s safety committee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Management:
    • Oversee and maintain complex employee data within HR systems.
    • Adapt processes and systems to align with organizational needs.
    • Generate insightful reports and analytics to aid HR and organizational decision-making.
  • FMLA Administration:
    • Handle requests related to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
    • Provide support and guidance to staff and management regarding FMLA policies and procedures.
  • ADA Compliance:
    • Facilitate the interactive process for reasonable accommodations.
    • Stay informed on ADA regulations and best practices.
  • Workers' Compensation:
    • Manage the claims process for Workers' Compensation.
    • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of incidents.
  • OSHA Log Maintenance:
    • Keep OSHA logs updated to comply with federal and state regulations.
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure the accuracy of OSHA records.
  • Tuition Remission and Exchange:
    • Administer tuition remission and exchange programs.
    • Ensure adherence to program guidelines and maintain precise records.
  • 403(b) Plan Administration:
    • Oversee the administration of the 403(b) retirement plan.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant federal regulations and plan policies.
  • Learning Management System:
    • Lead the deployment of the learning management system (LMS).
    • Provide training and support to staff and management on LMS functionalities.
  • Safety Committee Participation:
    • Act as a key member of the safety committee.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Employee and Leader Support:
    • Address inquiries and provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and programs.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
    • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, focusing on data management, compliance, and employee relations.
    • Experience with FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, OSHA compliance, tuition remission, retirement plan administration, and LMS implementation is essential.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
