Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Care Specialist to join our team at Galaxy Vets. As a key member of our veterinary healthcare system, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our team of veterinarians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with Patient Care: Assist veterinarians with appointments, medical procedures, and client education to ensure the highest level of patient care.
  • Collect and Prepare Laboratory Samples: Obtain and prepare laboratory samples, such as blood, urine, and fecal samples, for analysis and diagnosis.
  • Animal Handling and Restraint: Safely and humanely restrain animals during examinations and procedures, ensuring the well-being of both the animal and the veterinary team.
  • Medical Imaging and Procedures: Assist with medical imaging procedures, such as radiology, and perform dental prophylaxis and periodontal care under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  • Medication Administration and Management: Accurately prepare and dispense medications, ensuring that medications are added to the patient's record and appropriately charged to the client.
  • Client Communication and Education: Communicate effectively with clients, providing education and support to ensure their understanding of their pet's care and treatment.
  • Team Collaboration and Support: Work collaboratively with the veterinary team to ensure seamless patient care and a positive client experience.
Requirements
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT): Must be a licensed veterinary technician or have equivalent experience and training.
  • Experience and Skills: At least one to two years of relevant experience in a veterinary setting, with strong animal handling and restraint skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, veterinarians, and other team members.
  • Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, with a focus on staying up-to-date with the latest veterinary techniques and technologies.
