Role Summary:

Sovah Health in Danville, VA is seeking a Full-Time Emergency Department Technician for Night Shift (7p - 7a & EOW).

The Emergency Department Technician will:

Provide direct patient support, technical assistance, and contribute to care planning through effective communication with the RN and other team members.

Under the supervision of the RN or LPN, perform assigned duties specific to the area of responsibility.

Document all patient care activities.

Monitor, record, and relay patient conditions to the care team, physicians, patients, and families as necessary.

Maintain detailed and accurate records of patient concerns and refer issues to the appropriate resources.

Assist the triage nurse with patient care tasks, including personal hygiene, nutrition, and mobility.

Ensure adequate supplies and equipment functionality while maintaining departmental cleanliness.

Disinfect rooms, equipment, and all patient contact items before and after use.

Handle incoming calls and messages appropriately.

Manage clerical responsibilities as assigned by the charge nurse.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Skills:

  • Critical thinking and decisive judgment are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in reading and writing clearly to follow directions accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Ability to respond swiftly and calmly in emergencies.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is necessary, including weekends and holidays.

Certifications:

  • Current certification as an EMT from Virginia or North Carolina (or military equivalent).
  • Active, unrestricted Certified Nurses' Aide (CNA) certification from the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Applicants with military equivalent must complete state-approved requirements within 12 months of hire.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as an ED Technician, EMT, or CNA in an emergency setting is preferred.
