POSITION SUMMARY:


Oversees and directs the operational functions and daily activities of the 68-Member
MEMBERS ONLYSIGN UP NOW***, an affiliate of SOCMA's Association Management Center, LLC.

Provides strategic leadership, manages various technical initiatives, and facilitates networking programs on behalf of the Alliance. Executes organizational strategies, oversees financial operations, and formulates association policies in collaboration with BPSA's Board of Directors.

*Independent Contractor/Part-Time.

DUTIES:

Overall:
Advocates for the adoption of single-use bioprocessing technologies and addresses scientific and regulatory issues aligned with BPSA's strategic objectives.

Acts as a credible resource and representative for the single-use industry, engaging with customers and stakeholders including nonprofit organizations, standards bodies, and industry associations.

Establishes connections with prospective and new members of the organization.

Demonstrates excellent writing capabilities, a solid understanding of the plastics sector, and familiarity with the fundamentals of biologic medicine manufacturing. Experience in guiding a diverse 19-member Board of Directors is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills are essential.


Administration:
Utilizes internal SOCMA resources to advance BPSA's mission.

Manages BPSA's financial matters, including budgeting, expenditures, revenue, and dues assessments in collaboration with BPSA's treasurer and independent contract staff.

Integrates SOCMA AMC resources into BPSA's workflow.

Oversees independent contractors on a project basis to ensure effective communication, resource allocation, successful project execution, and performance evaluation.

Participates in SOCMA AMC staff meetings to share expertise on association management for the benefit of BPSA and SOCMA's association management services division.


Organizational Leadership:


Provides guidance and facilitates collaborative decision-making with the board and committees on key initiatives, implementing a project/engagement matrix process. Identifies strategic external organizations and collaborates with BPSA leadership to form alliances. Develops and executes a strategic planning process with a 3-5 year outlook to steer BPSA's mission and objectives.

Advocacy and Outreach:
Represents the organization publicly.

Collaborates with BPSA leadership to pinpoint strategic opportunities that advance organizational goals and enhance visibility, including speaking engagements and promotional activities.

Manages key partner relationships on behalf of the organization, coordinating with member representatives and standard-setting bodies.

Directs the identification, analysis, and dissemination of scientific and technical data to support BPSA position papers, regulatory comments, and promotional materials for various stakeholders.


Stakeholder Communications:
Works closely with SOCMA's Marketing & Communication department to achieve public relations objectives. This includes the creation of publications, newsletters, press releases, and other communication materials to raise awareness of BPSA. Acts as the primary spokesperson for BPSA, engaging with media as necessary. Oversees the development and maintenance of BPSA's websites and projects to ensure content remains relevant and up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and business development skills, including strategy formulation and execution. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and experience in media relations. Ability to respond professionally and promptly to inquiries from customers and members. Proficient in managing multiple concurrent projects. Understanding of financial planning and budget development, with the skills necessary to meet BPSA's fiscal requirements. Willingness to travel for events and meetings as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS degree in public policy, business, or a scientific discipline. A Master's degree or higher is preferred, although an advanced degree may be substituted for relevant experience and a proven track record. A minimum of eight (8) years of related experience is preferred, ideally within industry, trade associations, or public affairs/government relations. Experience in developing strategic alliances with stakeholders on key issues and collaborating with representatives of diverse interests. Management experience as an Executive Director of an association, management firm, or in non-profit management is highly preferred.
