Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

Work closely with the Board to ensure Phoenix Bikes has a robust strategic framework, leading annual operational planning to align the team with our objectives.

Foster a productive relationship with the Board, aiding in its fiduciary, governance, and fundraising responsibilities while promoting ongoing skills development.

Collaborate with the Board to identify, recruit, orient, and retain a diverse group of Directors who possess complementary skills and are dedicated to our mission and values.

Maintain official records and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

Establish and uphold organizational processes that reflect the highest standards of nonprofit excellence, setting a strong foundation for future growth.

Fundraising and Strategic Partnerships

Build and nurture exceptional, transparent relationships with supporters, corporate partners, and other stakeholders to ensure our programs are well-resourced and effectively meet community needs.

Lead all fundraising initiatives and events, collaborating with the Development and Communications Manager to strategically set and achieve annual fundraising targets.

Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization to external audiences.

Team Leadership

Foster a positive organizational culture aligned with Phoenix Bikes' core values of community, sustainability, learning, leadership, and a passion for cycling.

Develop a collaborative, high-performing staff team through coaching, team-building efforts, and ensuring access to resources and professional development opportunities.

Oversee recruitment and onboarding processes to promote internal advancement and attract top external talent.

Ensure competitive compensation and benefits that promote staff retention and satisfaction.

Financial and Operational Management

Collaborate with the Board and leadership team to create and manage an annual budget that aligns with organizational priorities.

Oversee the community bike shop and youth education programs focused on bike repair and riding.

Work with external financial professionals to ensure proper accounting practices and compliance with reporting requirements.

Manage payroll processes and support monthly accounting tasks.

Oversee insurance policies, facility needs, and legal matters.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong commitment to the mission and values of Phoenix Bikes and a passion for youth development and educational programming.
  • Extensive experience in nonprofit or small business management, with a track record of strategic impact and growth.
  • Proven fundraising experience, particularly in building relationships with major donors and corporate partners.
  • Exceptional people management skills, with the ability to lead and develop diverse teams.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities, capable of fostering strong relationships across diverse populations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience in financial management and budget development.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Salesforce, and POS systems is advantageous.
  • A passion for cycling and knowledge of the local community is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range of $75,000-$90,000 based on experience, along with group health insurance, access to a retirement plan with employer matching, paid time off, and wholesale pricing on bicycles and accessories.
