Job Overview

The Chief Operations Executive is a senior leadership position tasked with steering and enhancing the organization’s operational framework and essential service areas, which encompass: (1) Information Technology (IT), (2) Security, (3) Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and (4) Facilities Management. This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is critical in driving operational efficiency and aligning with the company’s overarching mission.

The Chief Operations Executive is accountable for achieving specific operational objectives, which include overseeing budgets, managing direct and indirect labor, capital investments, and other vital financial indicators. This position collaborates closely with the COO, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and other senior executives to formulate and execute operational strategies. The Chief Operations Executive ensures that the leaders of IT, Security, EHS, and Facilities possess the necessary authority and resources to effectively implement their initiatives. This role holds these leaders accountable for performance metrics and coordinates across divisions to deliver superior products and services while fostering an exceptional work environment for employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight: Manage the daily functions of IT, Security, EHS, and Facilities. Ensure effective collaboration among these groups and with government clients. Formulate and enforce policies to comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Strategic Alignment: Work alongside the COO and other leaders to ensure Operations aligns with the company’s strategic objectives. Plan and develop resources, including both classified and unclassified facilities, IT infrastructure, and security capabilities to support the company’s growth trajectory.
  • Performance Evaluation: Track and assess key performance indicators across Operations, utilizing tools like ServiceNow, and recommend enhancements as necessary. Provide ongoing updates to the COO, CEO, and Board of Directors regarding Operations performance.
  • Financial Stewardship: Create and oversee the Operations budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation. Align budgetary goals with the company's financial objectives and monitor performance to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Talent Development: Establish standardized processes for recruiting, developing, and retaining talent within Operations. Ensure these processes are consistently applied and support staff career aspirations through various opportunities within the organization.
  • Continuous Enhancement: Embrace additional responsibilities as required to support the company’s mission. Promote a culture of innovation and ongoing improvement within Operations. Regularly assess and refine operational processes using data analytics to inform decisions.
  • Business Continuity Planning: Formulate and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity strategies to ensure uninterrupted Operations during disruptions. Collaborate with EHS to devise emergency response protocols.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee adherence to relevant regulations, including health and safety, environmental standards, and cybersecurity requirements. Maintain thorough documentation for compliance audits.
  • Technological Advancement: Stay informed about emerging technologies and regulatory changes. Continuously refine strategies to address evolving risks and enhance security measures in alignment with IT and Security strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in a senior operations management role, preferably in the high-tech or defense sectors.
  • Willingness to travel frequently between various company locations.
  • Strong grasp of IT, security, and facilities management.
  • Proven ability to manage complex operations involving both classified and unclassified activities.
  • Exceptional strategic planning and resource management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with data analytics and decision-making processes.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Over 10 years of leadership experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
