Job Summary

The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a highly qualified candidate for the position of Department Chair in the Department of Orthodontics. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the department in its mission to provide high-quality education, research, and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance for the department in the areas of research, teaching, patient care, and service.
  • Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives that align with the college's strategic plan.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of curriculum and educational programs.
  • Recruit, supervise, and develop faculty and staff.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources.
  • Collaborate with other departments and colleges to advance the mission of the university.

Requirements

  • DDS/DMD or DDS/DMD foreign equivalent.
  • Applicants must be a graduate of an ADA-accredited dental school or an ADA-accredited 2-3 year advanced education training program, and have an active unrestricted license in another state or be eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.
  • Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
  • Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
  • Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with senior administrative leaders in dental schools, universities, and leadership boards/councils for higher education, accrediting, and/or licensing agencies.
  • Research training (M.S. and/or Ph.D.).
  • At least 7 years of experience in dental education and 5 years of experience in a relevant administrative leadership role.
  • Board certified in Orthodontics.
