Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Deputy Director of Emergency Management for the City of Augusta, GA. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of emergency management principles, practices, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement emergency management plans and policies to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure effective emergency response and recovery efforts.
  • Provide guidance and support to emergency management personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including emergency management officials, law enforcement, and other key partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest emergency management trends, technologies, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in emergency response, disaster planning, or public administration.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think critically and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • GEMA Certified Emergency Manager Certification.
  • Advanced Emergency Management level certification.
  • Experience with emergency management software and systems.
