Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage an online database for job tracking.
  • Validate work requests, assign preliminary estimates, and develop prioritized work packages within budgetary and time constraints for approval.
  • Review work specifications, coordinate schedules with repair activities, and supervise repair processes while contributing to maintenance funding decisions.
  • Engage daily with the ship's crew, department heads, and commanding officers to ensure effective communication.
  • Analyze implementation challenges, opportunities, and resources related to the Consolidated Ship's Maintenance Plan.
  • Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to the Ship's Force to ensure accurate and complete information for operational decision-making.
  • Conduct risk assessments and prioritize maintenance requirements for the vessel's commanding officer using the approved format.
  • Participate in weekly status meetings, providing updates to support maintenance planning and corrective actions.
  • Attend ship maintenance and assessment events to address real-time logistical and operational inquiries.
  • Prepare agendas and present detailed reports during Planning Board meetings to resolve operational and scheduling conflicts.
  • Conduct weekly reviews and ship checks, incorporating personal observations and discussions regarding assessments and planned improvements.
  • Evaluate the entire maintenance process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Compile an annual prioritized list of off-ship maintenance requirements to inform the Maintenance and Modernization Business Plan.
  • Develop recommendations for authorized work packages within established funding limits.
  • Prepare business case analyses in the prescribed format when proposing changes to the business plan.
  • Offer funding shift recommendations to optimize the execution of maintenance availabilities.
  • Maintain the knowledge necessary to comply with contractual obligations for government clients.
  • Execute all duties and responsibilities promptly and effectively, adhering to established company policies to achieve overall objectives.

Travel Requirements:

  • This role involves minimal travel, estimated at 5-15%, to support Fleet Concentration areas.
  • Frequent sea trials, testing, inspections, and ship checks as required.
  • Participation in ship deployments, including transfers, sea trials, mid-deployment checks, and repairs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One of the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of four years of sailing experience as an operating engineer, holding at least a USCG Third Assistant Engineer License (Unlimited).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, with engineering experience in the US Navy, including two tours as a Navy Limited Duty Officer (LDO), Chief Engineer (CHENG), or Main Propulsion Assistant (MPA).
  • Five years of experience as a USCG licensed Third Assistant Engineer (Unlimited or higher), with recent experience in a Port Engineer role or similar position in naval or commercial ship repair.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and managers remotely, utilizing personal devices for business purposes.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Reliable transportation to various work locations.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance is preferred; candidates eligible for clearance will also be considered.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate stairs, fixed ladders, and ladder-wells while onboard ships.
  • Capacity to spend extended periods at sea as required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, crouch, and kneel for prolonged periods.
  • Proficient in handling equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 20 lbs.
