Position Summary:
Our Norfolk, VA office is seeking a talented Structural Engineer with a focus on waterfront infrastructure, buildings, or large facilities. This role offers an opportunity to gain expertise in structural design specific to waterfront projects, contributing to significant initiatives such as the Navy's Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP).

Key Responsibilities:
As a Structural Engineer, you will:

  • Serve as a design engineer or design manager on waterfront projects.
  • Conduct analysis, design, and inspection of waterfront structures, ensuring quality control and assurance.
  • Utilize various materials including timber, steel, concrete, and composites for structural analysis and design.
  • Develop comprehensive plans, specifications, and inspection reports.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of technical documents and calculations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and project managers.
  • Engage in site investigations and construction inspections, providing detailed reports.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and a Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer licensure in Virginia or the ability to obtain it within six months.
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant structural design experience.
  • Familiarity with marine/waterfront structures and heavy civil/geotechnical projects.
  • Proficiency in software such as SAP2000, STAAD, AutoCAD, or Revit.

Physical Requirements:
This position primarily involves office work, with occasional site visits that may require navigating varied terrain. Some travel may be necessary to collaborate with other offices or project sites.
