We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Specialist to oversee quality inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) during ship repair projects.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for conducting quality assurance inspections and NDT on vessels undergoing repair.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct quality assurance audits on the work performed by welders, fitters, and pipefitters, ensuring adherence to proper procedures, materials, and technical specifications. Perform inspections of work areas and general quality assurance checkpoints.
  • Execute non-destructive testing on various components as mandated by specifications, blueprints, and procedural requirements, including but not limited to visual, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, and ultrasonic inspections.
  • Participate in production meetings to stay informed about project progress and collaborate with shop supervisors to address issues and mitigate negative workmanship trends.
  • Monitor subcontractor NDT inspections and evaluate their welding and NDT procedures for compliance prior to submission.
  • Document, organize, and assess test results, generating comprehensive NDT and quality assurance inspection reports.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of testing equipment.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Schedule and conduct preliminary and final NDT checkpoints.
  • Provide on-the-job training for other quality assurance personnel.
  • Assist NDT Level III personnel as required.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years of relevant technical experience.
  • Fulfillment of all requirements for the Quality Assurance Specialist role.
  • ASNT Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Documentation supporting the achievement of VT, PT, UT, and MT NDT requirements is necessary, with Level II certification in at least three testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with shipboard structures and systems is essential, with one year of NDT experience in the ship repair industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and quality assurance systems.
  • Knowledge of welding processes and documented ultrasonic experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate or learn to use various testing equipment and tools.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
