Job Summary

Delphinus Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Marine Welder III to join our team. As a Marine Welder III, you will be responsible for performing complex welding operations on US Naval vessels, including fit-up and welding of structural and piping systems and components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform shipboard fit-up and welding of structural and piping systems and components in support of installation, repair, and maintenance efforts.
  • Assist mechanics and pipefitters with fit-up and/or installation of mechanical and piping components.
  • Perform fit-up, welding, installation, repair, and maintenance in accordance with Technical Work Documents (e.g. QAWBs, Maintenance Standards, & Technical Manuals) and associated drawings.
  • Document requisite inspections and welding efforts in both the Technical Work Document and on associated Objective Quality Evidence Forms.
  • Responsible for selection and control of welding filler material, joint design, and welding machine settings in accordance with the Technical Work Document and company Quality Assurance Procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in performing welding operations in support of installation, repair, and overhaul efforts on US Naval vessels.
  • Proficient in SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW welding processes as well as Direct Energy Arc Process (i.e. Stud Shooting).
  • Experience with performing structural and pipe welding for various material types (e.g. OSS, HSS, HY-80/100, CRES, CUNI, NICU), combination welds (e.g. OSS to CRES, CUNI to CRES, etc.), and various joint designs.
  • Experience with performing setup, operation, and adjustment of various welding machines and associated hand/power tools.
  • Submarine experience and experience with SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and/or LEVEL I systems and components is preferred.
  • Experience working in shipyards and ship repair environments.
  • Possess ability to read, understand, and interpret Technical Work Documents and drawings.
Working Conditions

The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and/or hear on a regular basis. The employee is frequently required to carry objects that might weigh up to 50 pounds.

Education and Certifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required. Prospective employees must be a US Citizen and capable of passing both a Criminal Background Check and a Drug Screen. Current SECRET Level Security Clearance is required.
