Position Overview:

The role demands a comprehensive understanding of structural design principles and engineering methodologies.

Accountable for planning and executing independent tasks that necessitate discretion in the assessment, selection, application, and modification of engineering techniques, procedures, and standards.

Innovate solutions to challenges, and prepare or adjust drawings, specifications, calculations while ensuring adherence to relevant codes, recognized engineering practices, and Frazier standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct structural engineering calculations.
  • Develop structural engineering plans, designs, and layouts.
  • Draft project specifications related to structural engineering.
  • Create preliminary structural engineering designs for project proposals.

Core Functions:

Responsibilities encompass but are not limited to:

  • Executing structural design and analysis calculations in compliance with governing codes, specifications, and standards (AISC, IBC, RMI, AISI, ASCE, ASTM), leveraging engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
  • Detailing project components using schematic layouts and sales drawings.
  • Producing drawings and sketches for personal designs and collaborating with Designers/Drafters to incorporate sketches into drawings.
  • Investigating design alternatives and documenting findings.
  • Reviewing shop drawings for compliance.
  • Acting as Project Engineer and designated Client liaison on projects.
  • Supervising the activities of Designers/Drafters on projects.
  • Coordinating efforts with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, and sprinkler systems.
  • Utilizing engineering and design software to prepare engineering design documents.
  • Participating in Client and Frazier meetings.
  • Conducting field activities to observe and document existing conditions, including taking and verifying measurements within the project area.
  • Organizing, drafting, and coordinating technical documentation.
  • Managing and executing projects effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Communicating with Project Management to ensure designs consider installation methods and limitations.
  • Collaborating with Purchasing and Manufacturing departments.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Structural Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Structures, complemented by 5-10 years of advanced experience in structural engineering.

Skills and Certifications:
Proficiency in RISA, SCIA, or equivalent finite element analysis software.
Experience collaborating with clients across multiple disciplines.
Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Suite.
Licensure as a SE or PE is preferred.
Background checks will include verification of previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record.

Knowledge of designing in accordance with Chapter C 'Design for Stability' of the AISC Code is essential.

Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates, which may include weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.

Work will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel to visit clients or job sites. Conditions will vary at each location, but the characteristics described will generally apply.

When working outside Frazier's office, appropriate safety training and equipment will be provided as required.
