Position Title: SCADA ENGINEER

Location: Spring Valley, NY (Hybrid)

Contract Duration: 6 months (potential for contract to hire)

POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is pivotal in delivering application support for essential information systems that serve the Electrical Engineering sector and Control Centers, focusing on Distribution Automation and Distributed Energy integration. The incumbent will be tasked with the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases, displays, and applications pertinent to distribution automation systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide application support for critical information systems utilized by Electrical Engineering and Control Centers.
  • Design, implement, and maintain databases and applications related to distribution automation.
  • Collaborate with vendors to assess new systems for potential integration into operational and engineering platforms.
  • Possess a solid understanding of electric delivery systems and automation devices such as reclosers, capacitors, and switches.
  • Work closely with users to gather requirements for system enhancements and new system development.
  • Act as a liaison among project teams, external agencies, contractors, and various Company departments to ensure project completion.
  • Oversee the installation of vendor products and maintain vendor packages in production.
  • Develop scripts and APIs to automate processes and facilitate data sharing across departments.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting for system-related issues, ensuring compliance with Cyber Security Standards.
  • Install and configure applications for managing historical SCADA/DSCADA data.
  • Mentor junior team members within the Systems Engineering group.
  • Provide on-call support for the DSCADA system on a rotating basis.
  • Assist field teams in the commissioning of remotely controlled DSCADA devices.

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in operations, engineering, or information systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple assignments.
  • Proficient in one or more object-oriented programming languages (Java, VB, C#, Python).
  • Familiarity with database structures and queries, as well as experience with real-time control system applications.
  • Knowledge of big data analytics and digital mapping systems (GIS).
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for meetings and conferences.
