Position Overview: As a Surgical Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients. Your responsibilities will encompass:
Preoperative Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain surgical environments and instruments.
- Ensure sterilization of surgical tools.
- Assist in the preparation of patients for surgery.
- Administer and monitor anesthesia levels.
- Observe vital signs throughout surgical procedures.
- Adjust anesthesia as necessary.
- Provide necessary surgical instruments and materials.
- Uphold aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Handle biological samples for further analysis.
- Supervise recovery of patients post-surgery.
- Administer postoperative care and medications.
- Keep detailed records of patient care.
- Conduct and process radiographic images.
- Ensure accurate positioning of patients for imaging.
- Clean and maintain surgical instruments.
- Perform routine maintenance on medical equipment.
- Communicate postoperative care instructions to pet owners.
- Provide updates regarding surgical procedures.
- Assist during emergency surgical situations.
- Administer emergency medications as required.
- Non-Licensed Technicians: $25 - $38/hr
- Licensed Technicians: $30 - $40/hr
- Shift differentials available

Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Active CA-RVT license preferred but not mandatory
- Experience in veterinary surgery is essential
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with staff and clients.
- Ability to monitor anesthesia and perform related calculations accurately.
- Must obtain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire if not holding a valid CA-RVT license.
