Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician

As a vital member of our Emergency and Critical Care team, you will provide exceptional nursing care to critically ill or injured animals. Your expertise will contribute to the overall well-being of pets in need of specialized attention.

Key Responsibilities:
- Triage and admit emergency cases with precision.
- Deliver nursing care to critically ill or injured patients, ensuring ongoing evaluation and monitoring.
- Exhibit proficiency in advanced hospitalization care and continuous rate infusions (CRIs).
- Conduct in-house laboratory procedures efficiently.
- Skillfully place intravenous (IV) catheters and perform detailed patient rounds.
- Safely restrain anxious and frightened patients.
- Accurately obtain temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR) measurements while maintaining thorough medical records.
- Identify situations that require immediate veterinary intervention.
- Act as an advocate for both the patient and their caregiver.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or 3 years as a Veterinary Assistant in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit (ER/CCU).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both staff and clients, demonstrating professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations for drug dosages, CRIs, and client invoicing.
- Must hold or obtain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire, unless a valid CA-RVT license is held.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a 4/10 schedule. Flexibility is required, including availability for some holidays.
