Position Overview:
The Sponsored Programs Financial Management Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting Saint Louis University's mission of advancing research. This position is vital to the finance team, ensuring the provision of precise and timely financial data regarding the University's sponsored programs, adhering to federal, state, and institutional regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver essential tools and data to the Sponsored Programs Financial Management team to guarantee compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of performance periods, indirect costs allocated to grants, fringe rates applied to grants, budget variances, and other necessary evaluations.
  • Report exceptions identified in analyses to the Sponsored Programs Financial Management team on a regular basis.
  • Ensure all exceptions are addressed by following up with the financial management team.
  • Oversee the distribution of the Principal Investigator Financial Management Dashboard and the Principal Investigator Monthly Transaction Report.
  • Manage the monthly grant certification process in collaboration with Principal Investigators, Grant Operation Centers, Sponsored Award Financial Management, and Sponsored Award Accounting teams.
  • Engage in special projects aimed at enhancing automation within Workday for grant management financial processes.
  • Maintain and fortify internal controls over financial reporting related to sponsored programs.


Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting.
  • Several years of experience in a public accounting environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • A Master’s degree in accounting or an MBA is preferred.
