Position Overview
JOB SUMMARY:
This role is a vital component of Saint Louis University's core mission in research. The Sponsored Programs Financial Management Analyst will play a crucial role within the finance team, delivering essential tools and data to ensure precise, timely, and consistent financial reporting for the University's sponsored programs, adhering to federal, state, and institutional regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Equip the Sponsored Programs Financial Management team with necessary tools and data to guarantee transactions comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of performance periods, indirect costs associated with grants, fringe rates applied to grants, budget variances, and other relevant assessments.
  • Report exceptions identified during analyses to the sponsored programs financial management team on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Collaborate with the sponsored programs financial management team to ensure all identified exceptions are resolved.
  • Oversee the distribution of the Principal Investigator Financial Management Dashboard and the Principal Investigator Monthly Transaction Report.
  • Manage the monthly grant certification process in coordination with Principal Investigators, Grant Operation Centers, Sponsored Award Financial Management, and Sponsored Award Accounting teams.
  • Engage in special projects aimed at enhancing automation within Workday for the grant management financial processes.
  • Uphold and enhance internal controls related to financial reporting for sponsored programs.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A unique blend of skills and capabilities is essential for the Sponsored Programs Financial Management Analyst to effectively navigate a complex array of priorities, including:
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Strong understanding of Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance.
  • Expertise in internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Ability to comprehend business processes, identify risks, and utilize data for accurate financial statements.
  • Familiarity with Workday, Adaptive, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to achieve results and prioritize initiatives amidst competing demands in a multifaceted organization.
  • Capability to identify areas for process improvement and assist in the implementation of new procedures.
  • A consistent commitment to quality, customer focus, productivity, and continuous improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm is highly valued.
  • A BS/BA degree in accounting is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • A Master's degree in accounting or an MBA is advantageous.
