JOB SUMMARY :
This role is a vital component of Saint Louis University's primary mission, which is research. The Financial Analyst for Sponsored Programs will play a significant role within the finance team at Saint Louis University.

This individual will equip the Sponsored Programs Financial Management team with essential tools and data to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent financial reporting for the University's sponsored initiatives, adhering to federal, state, and institutional regulations.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Provide the Sponsored Programs Financial Management team with necessary tools and data to ensure that transactions are recorded in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance;

2. Conduct analysis on performance periods, indirect costs allocated to grants, fringe benefits charged to grants, budget variances, and other necessary evaluations;

3. Deliver weekly/monthly reports to the sponsored programs financial management team highlighting exceptions identified during analysis;

4. Collaborate with the sponsored programs financial management team to ensure resolution of all identified exceptions;

5. Oversee the distribution of the Principal Investigator Financial Management Dashboard and the Principal Investigator Monthly Transaction Report;

6. Manage the monthly grant certification process in coordination with Principal Investigators, Grant Operation Centers, Sponsored Award Financial Management, and Sponsored Award Accounting teams;

7. Undertake special projects aimed at enhancing automation within Workday for the grant management financial processes;

8. Uphold and enhance internal controls over financial reporting related to sponsored programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
The Financial Analyst for Sponsored Programs must possess a distinctive blend of skills and abilities to effectively manage a complex array of priorities, including:

• Profound knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;

• In-depth understanding of Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance;

• Strong grasp of internal controls related to financial reporting;

• Ability to comprehend business processes, identify risks, and utilize data for accurate financial statements;

• Familiarity with Workday, Adaptive, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred;

• Exceptional communication skills across all organizational levels;

• Capability to achieve results and prioritize initiatives effectively amid competing demands in a multifaceted organization;

• Aptitude for recognizing areas for process enhancement and assisting in the implementation of new procedures;

• Consistent demonstration of a commitment to quality, customer focus, productivity, and ongoing improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting;

• Several years of experience in a public accounting environment;

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• CPA designation preferred;

• Master’s degree in accounting or MBA preferred.
