This role is a vital component of Saint Louis University's commitment to research excellence. The Sponsored Programs Financial Management Analyst will play a significant role within the finance team at the University.
This individual will equip the Sponsored Programs Financial Management team with essential tools and data to ensure precise, timely, and consistent financial reporting for the University's sponsored initiatives, adhering to federal, state, and institutional regulations.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Equip the Sponsored Programs Financial Management team with necessary tools and data to guarantee transactions are recorded in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance;
2. Conduct thorough analyses of performance periods, indirect costs allocated to grants, fringe benefits charged to grants, budget variances, and other necessary evaluations;
3. Deliver identified exceptions from the analyses to the sponsored programs financial management team on a regular basis;
4. Collaborate with the sponsored programs financial management team to ensure resolution of all identified exceptions;
5. Oversee the distribution of the Principal Investigator Financial Management Dashboard and the Principal Investigator Monthly Transaction Report;
6. Manage the monthly grant certification process in collaboration with Principal Investigators, Grant Operation Centers, Sponsored Award Financial Management, and Sponsored Award Accounting teams;
7. Undertake special projects aimed at enhancing automation within Workday for the grant management financial processes;
8. Uphold and enhance internal controls related to financial reporting for sponsored programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
The Sponsored Programs Financial Management Analyst must possess a unique blend of skills and capabilities to effectively manage a complex array of priorities, including:
• Profound knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
• In-depth understanding of Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance;
• Strong grasp of internal controls concerning financial reporting;
• Insight into business processes with the ability to identify risks and utilize data for accurate financial statements;
• Familiarity with Workday, Adaptive, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred;
• Exceptional communication skills across all organizational levels;
• Proven ability to achieve results and prioritize initiatives effectively amidst competing demands in a multifaceted organization;
• Capability to identify opportunities for process enhancements and assist in the implementation of new procedures;
• A consistent commitment to quality, customer focus, productivity, and continuous improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting;
• Several years of experience in a public accounting environment;
• A BS/BA degree in accounting;
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• CPA designation preferred;
• A Master's degree in accounting or an MBA is preferred.
