Under general supervision, the Budgeting and Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for developing and maintaining various financial databases; generating routine and special financial reports and analyses; overseeing financial transactions; formulating budgets; and assisting in the enhancement and upkeep of reporting systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepares invoices and manages accounts receivable records for external contractors; compiles monthly productivity reports for faculty. Develops, formulates, and oversees contracts, bids, and proposals that adhere to specifications and comply with all applicable policies and regulations. Engages in or supports contract negotiations with suppliers, partners, or clients. Ensures accurate accounting of all one-time startup and pass-through fees. Reviews contract terms to identify potential risks or compliance issues. Analyzes supporting documents and agreements related to bids or contracts and provides expert guidance. Acts as a liaison between the organization and subcontractors to facilitate contract implementation. Maintains contract records to ensure compliance with reporting and regulatory requirements.
Department OverviewThe Clinical Trials Office is dedicated to managing clinical trials for industry-sponsored research, including oversight of trials and contributions to their administrative, business, educational, regulatory, and operational functions. This office streamlines the processing of research study contracts and budgets with industry partners to enhance the execution of clinical trials.
Job Duties- Ensures verification of indirect costs, professional and technical fees are accurately applied, and all one-time startup and pass-through fees are accounted for.
- Validates that Investigator and Study Team efforts are appropriately included and accounted for.
- Collaborates with sponsors to negotiate budgets, reconciling sponsor-provided figures with local patient and non-patient costs.
- Creates and maintains various databases and prepares routine and special financial reports/analyses for different levels of leadership.
- Responsible for adhering to proper invoicing procedures and maintaining accurate accounts receivable records, fulfilling routine and special reporting needs.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to tailor messages to various audiences.
- Strong understanding of business, budgeting, and financial processes and practices.
- Familiarity with financial guidelines and terminology.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to exercise sound judgment in complex situations.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in business applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; supplemented with three (3) years of budgetary experience in an academic or clinical research environment required. Proven experience working with Principal Investigators and payment setup processes.
Salary and BenefitsSalary range: $57,760 - $80,000 DOE, plus benefits including vacation and sick leave, health/dental/vision/life insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and match, tuition remission, employee assistance program, and wellness program.
