Position Overview:
The Sponsored Programs Financial Management Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the core mission of research at Saint Louis University. This position is essential for the finance team, providing crucial insights and data to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for the University's sponsored programs, adhering to federal, state, and institutional regulations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver analytical support to the Sponsored Programs Financial Management team, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of grant performance, indirect costs, fringe rates, budget variances, and other relevant financial metrics.
  • Regularly report exceptions identified during analysis to the financial management team, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Oversee the distribution of financial reports and dashboards for Principal Investigators, including the Monthly Transaction Report.
  • Manage the monthly grant certification process in collaboration with Principal Investigators and various financial teams.
  • Engage in special projects aimed at enhancing automation within the Workday system for grant management processes.
  • Uphold and enhance internal controls related to financial reporting for sponsored programs.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting.
  • Experience in a public accounting environment is highly desirable.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • A Master’s degree in accounting or an MBA is advantageous.

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Expertise in Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls related to financial reporting.
  • Ability to assess business processes, identify risks, and utilize data for accurate financial statements.
  • Proficiency in Workday, Adaptive, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Capacity to prioritize and achieve results amidst competing demands in a complex organizational environment.
  • A proactive approach to process improvement and implementation of new procedures.
  • A commitment to quality, customer service, productivity, and continuous improvement.
