Organization Overview: Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is a dedicated anti-poverty organization committed to eradicating homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We manage over 60 programs throughout New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester County, offering emergency, transitional, and permanent housing solutions. Our services cater to a diverse range of individuals, including families facing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth transitioning from foster care, and adults with behavioral health or substance use challenges, as well as a specialized preschool program for children with special needs.

Position Overview:
We are currently seeking passionate individuals for the role of Client Care Worker/Customer Care Worker. This position is essential in addressing the needs of our program clients and encouraging their active participation in services that lead to successful transitions to independent living.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate client engagement in daily program activities while ensuring adherence to client rights and program regulations.
  2. Accompany clients to appointments, manage bed assignments, gather census data, distribute linens and supplies, oversee access points, and maintain accurate logbooks.
  3. Input new client information into the electronic records system.
  4. Deliver exceptional customer service while managing the distribution of meal cards, mail, medications, lockers, and toiletries.
  5. Conduct regular rounds of assigned areas to ensure client safety and promote appropriate behavior.
  6. Provide emergency assistance, including crisis intervention, first aid, CPR, and fire safety as necessary.
  7. Complete Incident Reports in accordance with the Program Manual and Funder guidelines, promptly reporting any violations of client rights, non-compliance issues, or criminal activities to the Operations Manager.
  8. Drive agency vehicles for client transportation when required.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, along with one year of relevant experience.
  • A clean and valid driver's license is preferred.
